After a good nights sleep (after our intense day of waterfall watching) we once again tried our border-crossing luck and took a bus that leaves Argentina, crosses through Brazil and then arrives in Cuidad del Este (West City), Paraguay an hour later. We were hoping to get a tour or at least see the enormous Itaipu Dam (one of the 7 Modern Wonders and the largest hydroelectric dam in the world) but ended up arriving a little too late to head on over there. If anyone has ever been to Cuidad del Este (I doub it) it is pretty much the contraband capital of South America and is filled with Brazillian and Argentin-day trippers shopping for anything and everything. You could tell the place survived as the contraband center of South America and after our short trip we didnīt really didnīt feel the need to ever come back... except it is the only place down here where Iīve seen Korean food and people for that matter... so for any Koreans traveling around down here you canīt miss this place! However, once again we had our problems with border transportation and our international bus didnīt come so we had to bus hop until finally we got back to the Argentine side 5 minutes after our bus back to Buenos Aires was suppose to leave! Well we still had to pick up our laundry, so I ran ahead to the bus station and got there just as the bus was pulling out and was able to delay the bus driver by talking, begging, loading my backpack, unloading my backpack etc... until Jules arrived with the laundry and we jumped on with our mission accomplished. That was the closest either of us had ever been to missing a bus and this one would have been a disaster as there wasnīt room on any other bus that weekend and Jules had to be back the next day for her flight! Note to self... donīt play with the plane-ticket fire next time!
