After a good night's sleep, we were surprised and delighted to find that Martha at Cedar Glen lays on a complimentary breakfast for her guests of bagels, toast, cereal, cake and fruit so that made an excellent start to the day.  We managed to get a sleepy Mark out of his bed (some things don't change) and decided to pack up for a trip to the beach, which was a little way round Lake Tahoe.   We were surprised to see how busy it was and there was an excellent Safeways which enabled us to buy up groceries as we knew there would not be a lot available in Yosemite (more on that later!)  Julian, Mark and Paul were glad to stock up on some beer and Flo and I were more than content with the thought of some of the wine we had purchased back in Sonoma.  The beach, originally named Sandy Beach was suitably sandy but it was also crowded, which was rather a shock after our empty beaches previously on this trip.  Paul, needless to say, was delighted to be able to swim and he was impressed with two things - the fact that the Lake was hardly salty at all and how remarkably clean and clear the water was, if a little chilly.  Flo and Mark also went in for a dip but Julian and I decided that the water temperature was a little below what we would have liked and both sat enjoying the view and reading our Kindles.   We were both surprised to notice amongst the people sat on the beach, there was a group of Canada geese who were happily swimming in and out of the children splashing in the shallows.   Flo and I also noticed a very pretty blue bird, about the size of blackbird, flitting about the trees.  It had a crest on its head and the plumage was a beautiful petrol blue colour. After a time we decided to drive around some of the Lake to see the sights.  We decided that although Lake Tahoe was busy, our resort, called Kings Beach at the North of the Lake was quieter and less commercialised than the North of the lake, which was actually in Nevada, not California.  We were not very adventurous with our meal choices today in that we settled for some fast food Mexican and decided to have pizza back in the Lodge later.   We were all finding the air very dry and the heat, which was in the high 80s meant that we did all feel quite tired by the end of the day.
