By adding Honduras to my travels around the world, the number is now 161 countries.   They are not all different countries, but many with repeat visits such as the Americas, the countries of Europe, and Asia.  However, I can say that I have traveled to all five continents, the northernmost city of the world, the southernmost city of the world, the highest point on earth, and the lowest point on earth.  It includes a visit to Antarctica when I was able to travel to South Georgia Island to visit Ernest Shackleton's grave at Gryviken, and set my foot on the Antarctic peninsula.

JAN 18: Roatan, Honduras, is the
biggest of the bay islands. It's a long and narrow island where our ship docked at Coxen Hole, an unattractive entrance to Honduras for my first visit to this country. My roommatee and I just took a taxi to French Harbor where very few tourists visit, and not surprisingly, we were the only tourists while we visited there. We walked most of the small town with a church every few hundred feet (no kidding) between homes and some shops. We stopped at Gio's restaurant for
lunch with a good view of the ocean. I had a strong garlic-flavored shrimps, and Alex had the grouper. My garlic shrimp was very good which I downed with two bottles of local beer. We walked to a “new” shopping strip mall on the main street of the island where they have a Wendy's and an Applebee, and spent a few minutes browsing around some of their shops before catching a taxi back to our ship.

At 5:30PM, we had another Macchia wine tasting at the ship's Toscana Restaurant where they served a Barbera wine that won a gold medal at the 2010 wine competition in Lodi. They call it “Sensuous.”  Note: I was here to taste some wine over taking pictures, so I have only three.
