Since we were already on the east coast to attend our nephew's wedding in Hendersonville, NC, my sister, her daughter, and I decided to spend a few days in DC.   Our hotels were located in Dupont Circle, but I stayed at the Embassy Inn, a poor-man's rental for five nights, and my sister and niece stayed at the Holiday Inn.

We did the usual museum treks by getting passes from our congressman, but also visited several Smithsonian museums surrounding the National Mall.

While on tour at Kennedy Center, I broke off from the tour group to see if I could purchase tickets to Phantom at the box office.   It just so happened that three tickets were returned, so all three of us got very good seats to see the show.   My niece was really enchanted by the show, and bought many show memorabilia after our return home.   She talked about the show years after wards during the few occasions when we saw each other since then.

This visit to DC also turned out to be a very special one, because Congressman Norm Mineta invited some of us to lunch with him in the national capital's cafe.   Unfortunately, my sister and niece left a day early for home, and missed the luncheon.

I'll scan some of the pages from my photo album, and post them during the next several days.
