The two Baulch's and I flew into Phuket International on Saturday (14th), and jumped in a taxi to Kata Beach.  We didn't really have a clue where to go in Phuket, and we wanted to avoid Patong.  We definitely made a pretty good choice.  Kata Beach still has a fair few bars and restaurants, and 2 really nice beaches.  It served its perpose well.

The first night we ended up having some decent Thai curries, then went to play pool in a bar.  It was planned to be a gentle one but ended up different - just realise that I say that a hell of a lot!  Maybe I have some issues there..  Anyway, after playing plenty of pool, and me soaking a few Thai women with water-pistols (part of their new year celebrations - honestly!), we moved on to another bar.  This other bar ended up being pretty entertaining - it was a typical thai bar in most ways, except later on a ladyboy was prancing about topless John feels the heat

.  Was going to take a comedy photo, only to be told "Daaarrrrlllinnnggg, there are plenty of me of the internet!".  I thought the ladyboys would really piss me off, but they can actually be quite funny evidently!

On Sunday we hit the beach - I think the nicest was Kata Yai (sp??), with a long deep beach and crystal clear waters.  The only problem was every so often you'd get some random massive waves, one of which managed to hurt my neck a bit.  The only other issue was the sun!  Matt's feet took a scorching in particular.  Later in the afternoon we went to DinoPark in Karon, where we played a highly competitive 18-hole mini golf in a Fred Flinstone-esque setting.  I set a good early pace, but the pressure got to me.  A Henman-esque collapse on one hole gave John a lead that proved to be uncatchable (Murray-esque).  Matt's woeful putting left him in 3rd (Rusedski-esque).  Not sure what's with the tennis comparison's, hey, but it demonstrates the result!

Another evening was spent sinking Chang's and Samsong, playing pool and watching loads of football.  We decided to head on to Ko Phi Phi on Monday morning.....
