Laters Australia, Asia here I come...

So my, indeed our, time in Oz is finally coming to end. I have managed to bring my flight to Bangkok forward to the 15th Jan now so I can save my money and get to Asia! On the same day Ad is starting his mammoth journey back to England. I've taken great pleasure in reminding him daily how cold, miserable and rainy it will be on his return. I've taken pity though, and given him my fleece as I certainly won't be requiring it too much in the next few months!
So what have we been doing? Well, we've been staying on the beach in Coogee, Sydney soaking up the sun mainly. The hostel is pretty cool and we've met some top people, like Lise (from Norway) and Guy (posh boy from Marlborough College). Most days have been spent either on the beach - did I mention how hot it is? When it is too hot we tend to watch Family/Simpsons/South Park in the hostel lounge, or go play pool in the Coogee Bay Hotel. We've been keeping scores since the 1st October and I now have a 19 frame lead over Ad after well over 100 games of pool!
We went to the 20twenty game the other night which was different, except for the fact a) we lost, and b) Australians are terrible supporters. They had Judge Jules DJing before the game, then played music after every ball bowled. It's cricket but not as we know it. The fireworks between innings were pretty good. It was also an opportunity for me to sink some beers after a massive 2 week break due to illness/antibiotics. God it was nice to have a few beers. I am now fully recovered, which bodes well for Asia.
Oh I also did the coastal walk from Coogee to Bondi, which was really nice. Apparently Matty Hoggard was on the walk the day before. Would have been cool to bump into him. Ah well, at least I got some good pics of the coastline (my camera just died on me so I'll add them soon).
We've basically been winding down a bit and relaxing. We've not done all the touristy stuff there is to do in Syndey, but with seen the main things. I guess its been nice to just rest up a bit before I have to up the pace in Asia and before Ad's return to work!
So as I said, next stop Thailand, where I will spend a few days and hopefully meet up with Ross - a Bristolian I met in Cape Tribulation. If not, no worries.. the adventure continues.
