Wanaka to Queenstown and bungy time!!!!
Entry 15 of 67 | show all | print this entry |
A big day - we headed off to Queenstown, which is the advventure capital and the party capital of New Zealand. We were both really up for getting there as everyone has said how great it is. Before we got there, we stopped at Puzzling World for breakfast and to look at some optical illusions stuff. Not exactly my favourite hobby but hey its all about giving everything a go!
The only other stop we made was at Kawarau Bridge, which is the 1st commercial Bungy bridge in the world (AJ Hackett - the creator, not a chavvy clothes make). Neither of us had any plans to do this one on the way, but Ad ended up getting roped in (literally) and put in a great performance from the bridge. He got dipped in the river below too, which was quite cool.
I was a bit annoyed I had bottled it but luckily I got a change to make amends once we got to Queenstown. After checking into our 4-bed dorm inc DVD player, with Rogier and Patrick (top blokes) we got on a gondola up the nearest mountain to access The Ledge bungy, which is 47m long but about 400m above sea if I remember rightly. I did this one because you could run off the edge rather than stand still. For some reason I found this easier to handle! Personally I didn't think it was that great. I'd rather save my money and put it towards another skydive (anyone know where you can do it in England???). Mind you, Ad preferred the 1st jump to a skydive so I guess its a matter of opinion!
Anyways, we had a MASSIVE night out in Queenstown. I mean MASSIVE!!! We had $3 drinks all night, which is 1 quid a drink. Still managed to spend waaaayyyyy too much. We also did karaoke, which was a laugh. I managed to persuade the boys into singing "I can't get no satisfaction" by the Rolling Stones in dedication to the girls. Their reposte was "Your so vain" which was targetted at our coach driver. Honestly!!
I can't say much more on the night as I can't remember a lot of it. The only other thing was that I saw Lisa Forbes in Altitude Bar. Very random but cool all the same. I think we're in Sydney at the same time so we'll catch up further down the line too.
