Days until the wedding - 32
Days until 'The Honeymoon' begins - 49

A journey is like marriage. The certain way to be wrong is to think you control it

- John Steinbeck

With a Travelogue title of TheHoneymoon, and an opening quote pertaining to marriage I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out what's going on here. Yes? No? If not then let me explain. It's a year and a half since I finished my last trip, a year and a half of somewhat settled life I've spent in Canada with my soon to be wife, Meg. For those who followed that last trip of mine, yes, it is the same Meg I met in South Korea, and yes, the same Meg I altered the trip to come to Canada to be with (that trip has a lot to answer for).

Anyway, our time in Canada is coming to an end, for now, and shortly after the big day we will be putting on hold, as much as possible, everyday commitments to embark on.... well, on TheHoneymoon. Nuptials take place, in Canada, on July 28th, followed by a reception at home in Ireland on August 11th. The trip proper begins on August 14th, when we board a ferry from Ireland to north-eastern France.

Checking back here shortly after that and you should find this Travelogue in full swing, and even then, no doubt, we'll be harbouring ambitions to keep the trip going for as long as possible. I know for certain, even as I type this, that at a very minimum we'll be treated to, as will you, Dave & Meg do France, Switzerland & Italy. And while that would be an amazing trip in its own right, it just doesn't seem like enough. That's because when we first sat down and drew up this hair brained plan of ours the itinerary included such places as The Ionian Coast, Turkey, The Middle East, Egypt, The Arabian Peninsula, The Indian Subcontinent & China, all topped off by a reminiscing return to Korea, where it all began way back when.

But then sadly the reality of how much weddings actually cost hit home, meaning we will embark on this trip with more ambition than hard currency. Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained, meaning we're still going to give it a go, all the while eager to see how things work out. We're somewhat confident this one will start. It just remains to be seen exactly where it ends. We'll know more on July 29th, August 12th, & when we hit the road.

Until then we've got a wedding to see to. Oh, and a honeymoon to plan. This honeymoon.

I'm not wondering how far we'll go anymore. I now know. If you're in any way curious then check out this February 1st 2008 entry, from Korea of all places. One word... women.
