The Nations Capital
Trip Start Nov 05, 2002

Well, we dropped off the car yesterday. We spent the night before, after a long drive from Kodak, in a place called Manassas on the outskirts of Washington. After getting our stuff together for the handover in the Motel in Manasses the next morning we drove to a car wash (car has to be clean handing it over to the owner), into Washington itself to drop off our luggage and then out to the owners house. He's a army guy, having recently moved from LA to Washington for work reasons (I think he got posted in the Pentagon) and although he wasn't prepared to drive his car across the States I certainly was! He was happy with the car and couldn't believe I had driven the car the whole way WITHOUT using the cruise control. Hey, I saw the button and played around with it but it didn't seem to do anything. I though it was broke and if it wasn't broke it certainly wasn't obvious how to use it. Aggh well. I think Captain America was impressed with this little Paddy.
A quick train ride into the city followed and we walked around seeing the sights. I'd seen them all before on a previous trip but as an avid traveller you always like to revisit places that are difficult to get to in the first place. I think Rainy is coming down with something however as she doesn't seem to be herself. Here's hoping she get better and is right as rain for New York tomorrow.
We'll be getting the bus to New York tomorrow morning. Then it's 3 night in New York before our flight home on Tuesday evening.
Will see you in New York
