Welcome to the last entry from Australia.
With Syd still our property and fitted with a new battery (which embarrassingly died on us when showing Syd to a prospective buyer!) we headed out of Melbourne after 5 days to visit Warnambool about 4 hours, Syd time, west of Melbourne. We were going to visit B's aunt, Ciara. We were hoping that when in Warnambool we would get calls interested in Syd, especially as I had, a day earlier, visited all the signs I posted earlier in the week and reduced the asking price. The clock was ticking! We had to do something.
From Warnambool we did a trip on the Great Ocean Road, the coastal road between Melbourne and Warnambool. This is labelled as one of the best coastal drives in the
world and for very good reason. The rough sea here is continually battering the southern Australian coast and over the years it has created some amazing coastline and rock formations, not to mention it's fair share of shipwrecks. The most famous of these
formations are the so called '12 Apostles', 12 massive limestone pillars standing like 10-pin bowling skittles in the sea. The best way to experience these is via helicopter and the 15 minute flight we did along the coast was amazing, another highlight (thanks for that Paul).
Everything was getting a bit frantic at this stage. After a few goodbyes in Warnambool it was back to Melbourne to tidy up a few loose ends which included selling Syd at the VERY last minute (5 hours before getting our flight to Christchurch in New Zealand... talk about skin of your teeth!) and having a final few beers with my friends. It was then time to finally say our goodbyes to Australia. A HUGE chapter in our World trip ended.
