Hi,
To continue on. In total we spent 3 nights in Byron Bay before leaving the coast and heading inland towards Glen Innes via a stop along the way in Tenterfield. We passed through some lovely rural Australian towns eventually stopping for the night in Glen Innes, a place with very strong Celtic connections. The town celebrates the Irish and Scottish influence on Australia with an annual festival. The 2003 festival was to be held a few days after we left which was bad timing on our behalf but couldn't be helped at the time. Moving on from Glen Innes we passed through Armidale before arriving at Tamworth, the country music capital of Australia.

The town has it all for anyone, like myself, with an interest in country music, including the big 10 metre golden guitar outside the wax museum of Australian country music legends. Well when I say it has it all I sort of lied. Everything except the MUSIC that is! For the few days we were there we couldn't find a bar playing country music at all, save on jukeboxes! Seemingly live music only happens on the weekends and we were there midweek. Ha... and they call it the country music capital of Australia! The nerve. It better not be like that when we get to Nashville in a few months?! Again in Tamworth we gave Syd a well deserved rest and spent a couple of nights in a beautiful cabin. And the sun also came out again in Tamworth! Yahoooo.

Speak to you again soon.
Dave
