After Chang Mai it was back to Bangkok and then onto Kanchanaburi, the sight of the Bridge over the river Kawi. It was good to see the bridge but to be honest it was way to commercialized with far too many people there to fully enjoy it. Walking around the allied war cemetery in the town really hit home to horrors of what the people who died making the railway and bridge must have went thought. Most of the victims were British, Australians and Dutch. 6300 of the estimated 9000 that died making the bridge were buried in the cemetery.

When in Kanchanaburi we also did a day trip to the Erwan waterfalls. The 7 tier waterfall covers 2km in distance and the trek to the top level was good fun. Even better was swimming in the falls and having the little fish nibbling at your toes and feet! Took a while to get used to but good fun nonetheless.
