We left Saigon on the 3rd of Jan and did a three day trip through the Mekong Delta on route to Cambodia. Certainly the best way of getting to Cambodia!

The Mekong Delta is a large agricultural area in the south of Vietnam where most of the rice and fruit produced in Vietnam is grown. It's a really beautiful place and due to the wetness of the land it produces the best fruit in southeast Asia. We tasted the juiciest pineapple in the whole of the region and as it's locally produced you can get a fabulous fruit salad for about 40 cent! But even in the Delta you couldn't escape the war theme. We went on tiny rowboats through parts of the Delta jungle where the Viet Cong (Northern Vietnamese army) used to have secret meetings when planning their attacks on the south and Americans. Very Interesting.
