***************************************** Update - April 2008 ****************************************
In March 2008 I made it back to Agra as part of my ill-fated Honeymoon. Check out my entry here. I've been told it makes for better reading than this crap below, which I tend to agree with!
***************************************** Update - April 2008 ****************************************

So, our first stop, Bombay, India.

Boy that place was unbelievable. Like nothing I ever experienced before (or since). Hard to explain it really. The initial reaction was "how can there be so many people" and "where are they all going?"; thousands of people all seemingly doing nothing, just walking .. somewhere. Anywhere. It's no wonder there is over a billion people in this country. It seems like they are all here, now, looking at us. "Ohh look, a foreigner, a rich foreigner".

This was our first stop on our trip and what a rude awakening it was. Looking back now we were the ultimate green horns; wandering around the hustle and bustle of Bombay trying to stay alive. I'd never seen so many people in the one place before. Talk about an assault on the senses. We managed, just about, to survive Bombay for 2 nights. That was just long enough to see the essential sights and get a train ticket to the beaches of Goa, some 12 hours south of Bombay. We stayed there for almost 2 weeks. A lot longer that initially planned. I guess we were afraid to leave.

Subject: first greetings from India

Dave has already done a page of typing and here I am, ages later still only on my third line!! AAAAAAAGGGHHH!!!!!!! Anyway, I hope you all really appreciate this!!! India is hot, sticky, smelly, cool, mad, great, strange and all kinds of things! Really though, the hardest thing for me to try to get used to is the fact that nobody really acknowledges me coz I am female. The best so far was when the taxi guy took Dave's flippin rucksack and carried it for him!! Ah yeah, leave the bird to struggle with a rucksack as big as a house!!! I don't really know what else to report so far!! I think I will be resorting to snail mail quite a lot because otherwise I won't get to tell you much at all! I think today isn't the best day for typing my FIRST EVER E-MAIL anyway coz I am a bit wrecked and all that! Poor me eh?? Ah well, in 2 days time we will be out of this stinky city and will be at the beach! It is now the end of our first day here and I think it's gonna take time to get used to all this!! Sorry this mail is short and pathetic but hey isn't it better than not hearing from me at all???!!!! Gotta go coz I'm getting kicked off this computer (much to my relief coz I am so slow)!!!! Y'all mail me back nice long mails though now, won't yiz?!!
Ciao 4 now!
B
