************************************** Update - September 2005 ************************************
In September 2005 I made it back to Bangkok as part of another trip. Check out the entry here. While this time I was a little less of a tourist the entry itself is better than this crap. Honest.
************************************** Update - September 2005 ************************************
We are now in Bangkok and what a lovely change it is!! I think this is actually the first time that I have felt clean since...well I dunno when! The room here is clean,we have hot water in the shower, we have clean feet (when I say they were black every single minute of every single day in India I am not messin!!) and to top it all the people are all so polite and friendly! What a combination! There is also so much air conditioning here that you actually get to cool down now and again which is lovely! It is much hotter here than it was is northern India but sure hey we will soldier on!! We are off to Hanoi next week so this visit to Bangkok is only a brief one but we will be back here again at the end of January when a couple of friends are coming out to meet us! The city should be pretty cool today and tonight as the King is celebrating his birthday today and all the streets are beautifully decorated with lights and banners and photos and all sorts of things! There are loads of really cute bushes in the shape of rabbits and elephants and swans so we must get photos later! There are street stalls everywhere here anyway which make the place really colourful and interesting looking but I think that added to all the usual sellers there are special ones selling balloons and candy floss and stuff because of the celebrations! It makes the whole place seem so lovely to just stroll around - and it all seems so calm after the utterly mad bustle that there was in Delhi for example!! There is the advantage of coming here from India - nothing seems dirty or busy or crazy anymore!! Well, that's all I have to say for myself for the minute and I promise individual mails the next time!!
