***************************************** Update - March 2008 ****************************************
In March 2008 I made it back to Delhi as part of my ill-fated Honeymoon. Check out my entries which begin here. I've been told they make for better reading than this crap below, which I tend to agree with!
***************************************** Update - March 2008 ****************************************
We arrived in hustle and bustle of Delhi having left the relative calm of the beaches of Goa. The train trip was a 26-hour journey and it was the worst trip of my life thanks to a bout of food poisoning courtesy of one of the on-board meals. I spent most of the trip in bed with a fever. Typical Irish; get Delhi belly on the way to Delhi! Anyway we got off the train at about 4pm and spent the next hour or so trying to convince our taxi driver we didn't want to go to his favourite, commission paying, hotel! We were having none of it and after what seemed like an eternity he finally said he would take us here we wanted to go but at a whopping price of Rs450 (about 9 Euro) when the fare should have been about Rs80. We finally qot to a hotel and I spent the rest of the evening in bed with Bairbre doing her best Florence Nightingale impression. Woke up the next morning still not feeling great but good enough to see some of what Delhi has to offer.
