Ready again..... this one's gonna be big, I hope

Footloose adj. 1. free to go or do as you please 2. eager to travel; restless
Hello again and welcome to my latest Travelogue.
How this all works I'm glad to report that after a brief hiatus as a tax payer I'm back on the road again. For those of you who have seen one of my other Travelogues welcome back, you know how this works by now. For those new to the scene welcome, where have you been? ..... you've missed some good times. For you good folk here is the low down on the site and how it works. As I travel I intend to post here all the highs, all the lows and all experiences in between. I'll also be including pictures and possibly video as well. The site is simple to use; you simply click on the entry I've added (all entries will be listed in chronological order in the 'Table of Content's' area at the bottom of each page) or on any of the dots found on the maps you can see on this, and every other, page (the World map above detailing the overall trip and the smaller scaled map to the right in each entry). And as I said earlier there should be, decent internet connection pending, pictures to accompany each entry (although bad connections in places like China might mean the photos follow after the entry so keep that in mind). That's the essentials but there are a few other nice touches to the site, mainly the 'Guest Book' and the ohhh so cool 'Support My Travels' link. Check it out. And one final thing. There is an address book option on the site which sends an e-mail to all names contained within when I submit an update to the site. You might very well be in the address book and you certainly are if you're reading this after receiving an e-mail with a link to this page. So if you are and you'd rather not get update e-mails from me then please let me know and I'll remove your name. I won't be offended! Really. And conversely, if there is someone who wants to be added to the list then also let me know and I'll be more than happy to oblige by adding their name to the list.
The Trip So with the formalities out of the way, what of the trip itself? Well plans change and mine certainly always seem to. But as things stand at the moment I'll be leaving Ireland for Tokyo, Japan, on July 11th. Assuming I've any money left after that it'll be onto South Korea for the third time (first time was in January 2003 and the second time was last summer, July 2004, as part of a trip of a larger trip that included 6 weeks in China). I'll spend the guts of 5 weeks in South Korea before a few weeks in southern China on route to South East Asia. I plan on meeting friends from home in Hanoi, North Vietnam, on September 4th. After a no doubt hedonistic 3 weeks getting to Bangkok, with possibly a few side trips to see places I didn't get to see last time I was in the area, I'll fly to Calcutta in India. I think it deserves a second chance as I couldn't wait to get out of both the city and India itself the last time I was there. So after a few weeks in India trying to stay sane, clean and healthy it'll be onto Nepal. After taking in the splendour of the Himalayas and the 3 week trek to Everest base camp it'll be onto Tibet. All this will be done in true frugal spirit, defying the Tibetan authorities' attempts to bleed me dry of money. I've heard that'll be a challenge. Tibet will be followed by North West China and braving the dropping temperatures I'll make my way back to South Korea again for January and a month of work (word loosely used) babysitting Korean kids, free accommodation and free food. My batteries should be nicely recharged by the time February rolls around and then I'll bid Korea goodbye (probably for good this time) and it'll back to Beijing to resume the trip that was cut short last year; home overland via Mongolia, Russia and Eastern Europe (that is, assuming I manage to get a Russian visa in Seoul). How that leg of the trip goes depends on my tolerance of the -30 degree Mongolian and Siberian temperatures typical of that time of the year (February-March). I like to think I'm fairly tolerant of the cold but that level of cold is another story. Certainly nothing I've ever had to deal with previously. I'd expect to be home early April 2006 but God only knows exactly when I'll end up back.
Lets get going So that's that. Hopefully you'll keep update with my travels via this porthole and if you make the effort to do so I'll certainly try my best to keep it amusing and informative. If anything, it should certainly brighten up dreary winter mornings wherever on planet Earth you might be. One thing is for sure; come the winter mornings you can rest assured you'll be warmer reading the entry that I was typing it.
Great to have you along and send on the link to anyone you think might like it.
