The day marked the beginning of leg 3 of the trip, and our last day with Dorene. Had a nice breakfast and then took off. To the East, strangely enough. We headed to the Blackwater River for some canoeing near Milton, FL. Delays by the girls caused us to not get started until 11am, and so opted for the 7 mile trip. Met the owner before we took off, truly nice guy, with lots of tips for later in our trip. Got in the river just before noon, and started paddling, Chandler and Kendra in one canoe, Jasmine and I in another. We stopped several times to swim, snack and rope swing. While on the river we got hit with a heavy downpour of rain, which we all loved. Dried off, and changed at the car and started our long drive west. I pointed out our eastern most point to the girls. Took the interstate to Mississippi where we switched off to the coastal route through Biloxi and Gulf Port. Amazing to see so many van can't lots on the coast, still empty from the hurricane 8 years ago. We continued into New Orleans, and got a room near the French quarter. Cleaned up and took a walk down Bourbon Street, which made an impression on the girls. Found a nice cafe for dinner and then a leisurely stroll back to the hotel.
