Early morning start and passed through Flint Hills section just to see some hills. Then we visited Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka. Had to laugh at rainbow painted house right across the street. Made a stop at Target in Lawrence to buy pillows, then past KC and into Missouri. Beautiful drive through farmlands into Winterset. Unfortunately I couldn't download the maps I'd saved, and directions were rare so finding covered bridges was tough. Visited a few of them, and saw John Wayne's birthplace and then hit the road again. Girls were anxious to get to Protivin, and I hoped to arrive before it was too late. Made it by 9pm.
