Another year, another anniversary of my 30th birthday.  I had plans on this birthday to have a nice dinner with a friend in from Dallas, then meet up with some of my Hyderabad friends after for drinks.  Unfortunately (or fortunately I should say) friends had other plans for me.
Tanya (a friend from Dallas) and I were getting ready to leave for dinner...but before we left, Kate and Laju came over to have some drinks before they left for a party their boss was throwing (lies...all lies).  Tanya had bought me a cake and then Kate and Laju show up with the exact same cake...bought at the exact same place...funny.  We have a few drinks with them, they leave and then Tanya and I head off to dinner.  One the way I noticed my driver had taken a wrong turn so I started yelling at him to turnaround.  Tanya told me not to worry and I said something to the effect of "what do you mean not worry!?!?....he's going the wrong way!!".  Next thing I know I'm having a blindfold put on me and I'm cursing under my breath for not being able to see that something like this was coming.  We come to a stop and I'm escorted (blindfolded) thru a room, into an elevator  and into another room where a group of my friends had gathered at the Marriott hotel for a surprise party.  Tanya, Kate and Laju had the chef at this hotel put together a complete tex mex menu complete with a sombrero shaped cake and a Margarita tasting menu.  I was definitely surprised and grateful.  After drinks, dinner and cake, we all took off for Zouk where the party continued.  At one point Tanya told Henry that she was disappointed that Brandon was at his birthday and still stone cold sober.  Henry said something like "Leave it to me.  I need 5 minutes.".  Four shots and a few beers later I was feeling no pain.  After Zouk we all went to Vijay's penthouse and then eventually home from there.

Good times in Hyderabad...many thanks to Kate, Tanya and Laju for all the planning that went into it.  And thanks to Henry, Nicco, Sarah, Paul, Little Henry, Deanne, Steve, Vijay, Sonny, Roshni, Muzzah and everyone else who showed up to celebrate with me.  It was a great night.
