Decided to spend a rather long time in the U.S. as it may be my last trip there for several months...and like the last time, I crammed a lot into my time there.  My basic itinerary was Dallas for 2 nights, Okla City for 6 nights, Dallas for 2 nights, New York for New Years for 2 nights, Dallas again for 2 nights, Ft. Myers Florida for 6 nights, Los Angeles for 1 night and Dallas for 5 nights...returning to Hyderabad in the 19 of January.  Ugh...why do I do that too myself?  After all that travelling I need another two weeks to recover.
After departing Hyderabad on the 21st of December, I spent the next 20+ hours on Lufthansa catching up on my movies, eating semi-good airline food and drinking too much Austrian red wine.  Thanks to the good ol' time difference, I arrived into Dallas on the same day, rented a car, checked in to the Hotel ZaZa and gave my body a thorough scrubbing to make myself feel a bit more human again (too much info?).  Despite the jet lag I managed to meet a few friends and have a few drinks...but the second day I was fairly worthless and I think I slept for a few dozen hours.  Sunday the 23rd it was off on a flight with my overweight luggage to OKC to see the parents and dog for the Christmas holiday.  Christmas was great, the weather was cold, the food was a distraction, the family was doing well...the dog however probably hates me.  I've had my dog Shiner for over 12 years now since he was 10 weeks old.  During this trip I managed to take him to the vet twice where he either a) received shots and/or b) got a thermometer shoved up is wah-hoo (again..is this too much info for a travel blog?).  Anway...I'm quite sure he now associates my visits with the vet and probably wishes I will stay away for good.  As my dad is now semi-retired...we got to catch up watching a lot of Fox News, drinking Okla beer and shootin' the sheet (okie talk for talking about anything).
Back to Dallas for a few days hanging with friends...but only for two nights and then it was off to New York City for New Years with two of my Hyderabad friends!  Can't believe I flew back to the U.S. to hang with my Hyderabad friends...but Sonny and Kat made the offer of a free place to stay and several parties in the city so I jumped on it.  NY was cold, but it was good seeing some familar faces.  Of course New Years was great, the pictures don't do it justice.  I only stayed in NYC for two nights and then it was back to Dallas for another two nights where Stacy managed to get us great suite tickets to a the Mavericks/Heat game...Thanks Stacy for the tickets and place to stay for a few nights!!!  Got up way, way to early the morning after the game to catch a 6AM flight to Florida to visit family there.  Had 6 great days of fishing, eating, catching  up with my sleep and seeing my family there.  Check out that monster redfish I caught!
After Florida I took a cross country flight to Los Angeles to spend all of one night there.  Why might I do that you may be asking?  My good friend Kerry is leaving the U.S. and moving to Capetown South Africa with her new boyfriend....and I just happened to be back in the U.S. that same time as her going away party...therefore a trip to L.A. is a must-do.  I got to see some good friends I haven't seen in a while including Amy and Kayma, who visited me in India a few momths ago.  It was a great party and while we're sad to see Kerry leave...we're all very happy to have a free place in Capetown to stay when we visit. :P
Finally...back to Dallas for the final 5 nights of my trip to the U.S. where I caught up with many, many friends and purchased enough "comfort items" that I filled up four suit cases worth of crap to bring back with me to India.  My last night in town I met up with friends Ruben, Stacy, Alexa, Derek for a night out at Javiers.  Thanks much to Derek and Lynn for putting me up for a few nights.
It was a great trip back to the U.S....but I did get sick of living out of a suit case, sleeping in different beds every week and generally being out of my routine.  Looking forward to getting back into the gym and my own bed in Hyderabad!
