We left Independence, Iowa about 9:00 am. and headed to Waterloo, which was about 25 miles West.  Arrived at the John Deere Factory for the 10:00 tour.  I had thought it was for all types of tractors, but it was huge farm tractors.  There was about 23 people and I think most of them was farmers.  It was a inside riding tour around the huge factory where we saw them start from scratch to make a farm tractor and these tractors were BIG.  It was quite interesting even if your not a farmer.

From there we headed north to Minnesota.  Pretty much the whole day all we saw was corn fields and windmills. We are going to meet up with our Gopher hockey friends, Lisa and Joel in the Minneapolis area.  We are going to meet them on Friday and stay with them a couple of days before heading off to Grand Forks, ND.

Traffic in the Bloomington/Minneapolis area was pretty busy as of course it was 4:00 pm when we arrived.  I hadn't used the TomTom for the whole trip and we ended up getting a little lost once we got off the exit so we pulled over, plugged the GPS in and it took us right to the LaQuinta Hotel.  Guess we will use it from now on. (Earlene)  George hasn't had to use the duck tape yet!

Boy, do we envy you young people, running all over the country! We know what you mean about seeing corn and soy beans...that's wht we have in Indiana, where we are going for class reunion in Sept. We have the big windmills there, too. And John Deere tractors. You are getting quite an education. Hope we can see you sometime when you return. Love, W & T
