Mis Estimados Compadres,
Amigos, Amigas, Compañeros y Compañeras:

Now. Here. This . Ahora. Aquí. Esta.

Going to Guanajuato tomorrow for a day trip... It is about 60 kilometers from San Miguel..
It is the capital of Guanajuato State, the Mexican state that San Miguel is in. It was also
the city that the Mexican War for independence in 1810 started...
Guanajuato, Mexican state, officially Free and Sovereign State of Guanajuato, is one of the 31 states which, with the Federal District, comprise the 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided
in 46 municipalities and its capital city is Guanajuato.Area: 30,607 km²Population: 5.486 million (2010)

Like more than 1/2 of the 31 Mexican States - the State is named after its capital city..
Sort of like the Province of Quebec is named after its Capital City Quebec in Canada....
Guanajuato, capital of the State of Guanajuato - 60 kilometers from San Migul, Mexico.
Start of the Mexican War of Independence in 1810. Site of the massacre of Spaniards in 1810.
Home of Diego Riviera, world famous painter and Mexican National Hero - painters/artists (not house painters) are national heros in Mexico...
See following links to see more about Guanajuato... World Heritage Site......

I worked at a Mexican Soup Kitchen today as a volunteer.. I May do that every Wednesday...
It is not the first time that I have done something like that.....I have served breakfast at the Union Mission in Ottawa on Tuesday mornings for a spell. And I worked 6 shifts (3 days) in food preparation at the Blues Fest one year for a free entry to the Blues Fest, plus getting free
meals in the Blues Fest volunteer's tent during the Blues Fest. We worked in the kitchen at Algonguin College to prepare the Blues Fest food. My first job at food preparation at the
Blues Fest was slicing up 80 boxes of mushrooms. That is real work.. After slicing up 80 boxes
of mushrooms I took a little rest. And Lise was on my case for slacking off.. I should have paced myself better when I was slicing up the mushrooms - maybe have taken a little rest
after slicing up ever 20 boxes... Office workers who do not do any physical work do not realize and appreciate that when you are doing physical work - you cannot do it nonstop - you need to take breaks......
Today, at the Mexican Soup kitchen, there was about 16 tables of 10 people = 160 people -
14 tables of women and 2 tables of men - many of the people were very old and at least 1/3 of them needed canes to get around....It was 3 hours of work - 2 hours preparing the food and 1 hour serving the food - it was a sit down meal for the people there. They got a pretty good meal - taco's,
a bun with meat, cheese and sliced tomato's on it, chicken fried rice, cold slaw, beans and some other stuff, and for dessert, chocolate cake and a banana and they were given a carton of milk and a food package as they were leaving...It is probably the best meal that they get all week... I think that the meal is planned by nutritionists to be a very nutritious meal.... I would have enjoyed the meal... ...
And they were very appreciative - many of them thanked me and blessed me - I think that the more times that I am blessed, the better chance I have of getting into heaven...
I do not remember ever being or getting thanked, "or blessed" by anyone at the Union Mission in Ottawa when I served breakfast.... But the ratio was reversed at the Union Mission, about 200 people, with about 190 of them men and maybe 10 women....And many of them looked like real hard cases......Actually, I think that we were thanked by the staff at the Union Mission - but not by the people getting the food........

I am starting to think about getting back to Ottawa in June... I would have no problem
spending 12 months of the year in San Miguel but I have things in Ottawa/Canada
that I have to take care of..
