Mis Estimados Compadres,
Amigos, Amigas, Compaņeros y Compaņeras:

I finished my Spanish Classes in March. Now I am changing gears.
Stretching exercises two mornings a week, Zumba one morning a week,
men's breakfast Saturday mornings, Philosophy Discussion Group Friday mornings,
Personal Issues Discussion Group Tuesday Mornings, two lunches a week with two different groups, two potluck diners a week in different people's houses, etc....
I was at a book reading last Saturday, an art show last Sunday
and I am going to an evening of 8, 10 minute plays this Thursday nite..
- .I was in a 10 minute play last year when I was here in San Miguel.... ...
I thought that once I was finish my Spanish classes that I would be able to take it easy...
That hasn't happened yet....I may have to back off of some of my activities....
Every once in a while I would like to spend a day or maybe even two days doing nothing...
Doing nothing would mean doing things that did not involve any contact with other people.
Just hanging out in my casita - reading, doing housework, sunning myself on my balcony,
maybe going out and taking pictures with my camera....sort of nonstructuured time with no commitments...

I was at a talk today by a Canadian Engineer who is in charge of a car parts manufacturing plant
in Queretaro (60 kilometers South of San Miguiel - fastest industrializing city in the world)...
He is from Windsor and got his Engineering Degree from there...
At the start of his talk he mentioned it was a treat for him to be able to speak in English,
because he got to talk in English so rarely anymore..That really blew my mind - a Canadian,
who thought that it was a treat to talk in English because he got to do it so rarely any more....Woooooooowwwweee......Lise's friend Cindy Blocker lives in Queretaro and she is probably in the same boat - she probably does not get the opportunity to speak any English very often any more.....

There is about a 100 car and car parts manufacturing plants here in Mexico. In 5 years there will probably be about 200 car and car manufacturing plants here in Mexico that are in the planning stage right now.... There is going to be a massive foreign investment in car and car parts manufacturing here in Mexico in the next 5 years. Ten Years from now, Mexico is not going to be the same country that it is today...

The manufacturing plant in Queretaro that the Canadian is in charge of was established about.
five years ago and employs about 200 employees. The actual manufacturing work on the assembly line is done by robots...The employee are needed to program the robots and for the maintenance of the robots and the manufacturing assembly line.  These are not low level, minimum wage types of jobs - these are high tech jobs...

This Canadian manufacturing plant was not located in Mexico to get cheap labour,
it was located in Mexico to be close to their customers, the 100 car and car parts manufacturing companies that are already here in Mexico and the 200 car and car parts manufacturing companies that will be here in Mexico in five years.... The entire car and car parts manufacturing industry in Mexico is high tech - robots and high tech assembly lines - requiring high tech workers.
Probably 90% of the cars being manufactured here in Mexico by the Japanese, the Germans, the Italians, etc. are exported - there are many cars imported into Mexico - that is the type of Global Economy that we live in today...

It is sort of exciting being in a country that is making the transition from a third world country
into the modern world - if you know what is happening and understand what is happening...
Of course many people live in ignorant bliss completely unaware of what is going on in the world around them....

I will have to fit in some time to do my 2012 tax return sometime,
when Lise get's around to sending me my tax information...

The Drug Cartels in Mexico are very misunderstood
and the good that they do is often overlooked.....

Viva La Mexico
