Will we never get to Winthrop? My knee is tired from sitting sitting, let's get there, and out, I want OUT of this car.
Winthrop, population ?, elevation ?.
They want you to think of it as Olde West. Sidewalks made of wood, creaky planks and hitchin' posts, with BMW's parked out front of chicky stores, you want a western hat? Git your pitcher made in olde-time garb, the costumes offered up for ma and pa and even little kids
We want ICE CREAM. It's hotter 'n blazes, giddy on to the corner there, oh no an awful line. We wait our turn. We wait and wait. Andrew wants the cookie-dough, I must have rainbow shebert, pay and find a shady spot. This heat know how to follow you, even into shade. Can we eat it all before it melts? We try.
Do it for the tourist spot. Andrew climbs into the saddle stool, grins a picture grin. Now there's a geezer statue there. Out back the Methow River dapples over river stones, it looks so cool, you want to wade across.
Let's go, I say. A hundred miles before we sleep, let's find the apples next.
