Go with me? Crossville's Cumberland County Playhouse is a great place to go any time of the year. But the inspiring holiday season is best of all. Especially for a production like "Children of Eden." It's a family musical, so pile everybody into the car for the trip.

Look at the dazzle of high-powered names that created this play. It was written by John Caird, who created "Les Miserable." The music was composed by Stephen Schwartz, who created the music for Disney's "Pocahontas." And it's based on the book of "Genesis"!

But the play isn't scripture, it's a reverent blending of history and imagination. A large multi-racial cast filled with children and teens tells the stories of Adam and Eve, Cain and Able, Noah and the Ark. More than 50 animal characters appear in spectacular costumes, creating effects much like those in Broadway's "Lion King."

"This production is offered with respect and honor to all religions," states producing director Jim Crabtree. "For me, there's a sense of wonder at a Creator so powerful and wise that children of all cultures, tribes, and creeds can find faith, hope and love on their journey."

Enjoy the drive north through the beautiful Sequatchie Valley, inspiration in itself. Stay a while in Crossville -- the Playhouse Box Office will arrange for your accommodations as well as your tickets. Then immerse yourself in these heartwarming stories, so beautifully told. See you there.
