If It's April
Trip Start Mar 07, 1997

We're going to drive the "Dogwood Trails" - sixty miles of gorgeously manicured lawns filled with glorious flowers and trees in six of Knoxville's most prestigious neighborhoods. Maps are available at Market Square, or we can hop a free bus there and be driven around the trails while we relax and use up film.
There also are over 100 public and private gardens that are open during the festival and enough events to please everybody. Kids will love KidFest this weekend on the World's Fair grounds. Games, rides, animals and art activites are organized in villages, where we'll find Healthy Kids and Cable Land for Kids programs too.
Healthy Kids is a nationwide health-check -- children run through an obstacle course to test their abilities. Cable Land for Kids offers romp-and-play with a moonwalk, a batting cage, and a huge inflated slide. Or sit down with sketch artists from Disney and learn the basics of cartooning. And watch for the walkabout TV characters!
There's even a Dogwood Grand Prix. Over 100 drivers from 10 states arrive Saturday for the only street-sanctioned autocross in the country. The South Knoxville Connector is roped off for the event. Each driver runs the 1.4-mile pyloned course in a breathtaking test of skill.
Hmmmmm. Beautiful gardens. Disney. Grand Prix. It's starting to sound a little like Paris, after all. See you there.
