Bowling is Cool

And if you want to "boldly go where no bowler has gone before," you've got to try the latest fad - it's positively cosmic. Imagine yourself in a darkened room, late at night, with lasers flashing to the shock-rock beat of a pounding sound. Suddenly swamp fog comes swirling towards you. You step, swing and release a special ball that glows as it searches for pins. Blam! Was that a strike? Who cares!
Bowling in the dark can be found at Holiday Bowl in Hixson, along with all the normal conventional stuff. There are hot summer rates on special days for men, women, seniors, and youth. If you're over 55 go on Mondays for the Senior No Tap. You shoot at a full rack, but knock down nine and they call it a strike.
Junior League bowlers have a real learning opportunity at Holiday Bowl. They offer a scholarship program for Leaguers ages 14-21 who bowl at least 2/3 of the season. Once you've met that requirement, pick up an application and go for it. Final eligibility is decided by a Board of local business sponsors, and $1,000 is awarded to a boy and a girl each year for college. What a deal!
Anyone, any age, should start signing up soon for the fall leagues. When the season begins, how-to classes will be scheduled for all who are interested. And the Saturday morning kids' leagues are the only ones where folks get grouped by age.
A supervised playroom is available if any leaguer needs a sitter. There's a snack bar for your bowling hungries, a video game room for a little diversity, and plenty of places to sit and watch the action. A bowling alley is a pretty cool place for families and friends, any season of the year. See you there.
