After you've tired of horseshoes, splashing in the turtle pool, and neighborhood gossip, pile the crowd into the van and head for Sir Goony's Family Fun Center, home of golf and go-karts, batting cages and bumper boats. There's enough to entertain everyone, and special rates if your group numbers ten.
Miniature golf is everybody's game. Just pick up a putter and aim for the hole. And watch out for the Purple People Eater as you maneuver around King Tut's Hut and the Old Lady's Shoe. A hole-in-one at the Igloo sets the buzzer zinging and wins you another round.
Time for something racy now, with three tracks to drive on. The Midget Track welcomes racers 5 to 10. Strap'em in mama, and watch'em go! Once you reach the ripe old age of 10 (if you are at least 4'10" tall), you're old enough to go full-throttle on the big-time track. The double cars accommodate an adult too, should a parent choose to share the ride. No brickyard here, but 1,200 feet of curves for a five-minute speedway feel.
Safety rules are stressed before you exit the pit and reckless drivers are promptly waved in. No fooling around! Once you are 12 (and 5' tall) you can test your skills on the Slic Track. As the name implies, the powdered curves are for the challenge-seeking adventurous drivers.
There are six batting cages at Sir Goony's, offering slow pitch softball and 70 mph baseball. Helmets are required in the cages, and they are restricted to one person at a time. Parents can stand on coaching duty right beside the gate.
Need some cooling down? Big Splash Bumper Boats sputter around the Blue Lagoon and just might get sprayed by the elephant. And Spray Shot basketball is the coolest challenge of all. You make the first three baskets and water squirts all over your opponent. Talk about good clean family fun! See you there.
