Go Fly A Kite
Trip Start Mar 07, 1997
95Trip End Dec 25, 1998
It's the annual Kite Fly in the meadow, and you can take your own or make'em there. Workshops begin at 10 a.m., and the kite prices begin at $1.
"We want every kid or kid-at-heart to have a chance to fly," says Chuck Jones, head of the club. "We'll teach you how to make them and get them in the air."
From noon till 4:30 it's free-flying time mixed with heavy-duty demonstrations by the club members. Watch them duel it out with fighter kites, manhandle the giant four-liners, and show off by flying two kites at the same time. There is even kite ballet set to music, and a teddy-bear parachute drop.
Events are enough to inspire the newest convert to the sport, or thrill a tree-defeated Charlie Brown. And you may go home with a ribbon for prettiest kite, or most enthusiastic flier.
So grab a ball of twine, tie a concrete block to your leg (just kidding), and go fly a kite! See you there.
