Walk the Walnut
Trip Start Mar 07, 1997

Let's unkink our winter muscles and Walk The Walnut this weekend. The Bridge. The chunk of RiverWalk that puts us high above the muddy brown waters of the fast-moving Tennessee. It's too early yet for the 600 red wax-leaf begonias to be set into their big pots-beside-the-benches. But the inspectors are busy poking under the yellow pine board-path; checking the cable supports. Things are shaping up.
You might see your best friend walking the Walnut. You might see the King of Sweden. Did you know people come from all over the world to walk it? They come to learn about the renovation, or how it fits our plan for a move-livable city. Or maybe, just for the fresh air and the view.
It's a half-mile walk across and everything we brag about is visible from here - mountains and Aquarium peaks; museums and walking paths along the river's edge. All framed, of course, by the brilliant blue crossbeams of the bridge. Stay late for a killer sunset, and evening's twinkling lights.
I love the Walnut. It's a great way to cross into spring. See you there.
