A 17-mile drive from Whitefish to the western entrance to Glacier National Park. A pretty drive, the road is good and you can look at mountains any way you turn your head. From Flathead Valley you travel past the things that build up around any park entrance, water parks (closed), helicopter rides (closed), mazes to amuse and canoes to paddle (closed and closed).

Just wait, I promise, we'll see the beautiful museum at the entrance, about the Canadian part of the park. Uh-uh. Closed. Amtrak station here. Closed. We've hit the first weekend closing of the park -- the one before, all was open still. And today, no snow, no stormy weather blocking all the roads. We're disappointed sure.

But Andrew, the mountains are still there! We drive on in. I stop and get his picture by the entry gate.
