I took the train from Amsterdam to Haarlem today. After my expensive stay in Amsterdam., I thought I'd save a few euros and walk to my hostel. Ya it took over an hour. I'm an idiot for thinking that I could walk half way across a city taht is home to 150 000 people.

I dropped my bags at my hostel and then hopped on he train to Zandvoort for the day. What a cool place! The train stops right at the beach. The town reminds me of PEI because it's small and friendly. Also, there are giant sand dunes and soft golden sand. I liked it a lot. If I were to move to Europe, I'd live in Zandvoort.

I spent the day lazing on the beach and recovering from the weeked. I attempted to swim, but the waves came in and out so fast that I could feel the water pulling my feet as it went back into the ocean. Honestly, I was afraid to go into the ocean past my knees because I didn't want to drown (maybe that was an irrational fear, but maybe not, I can't really swim).

At the end f the day, I was walking along the water with my camera in hand in case I wanted to take a picture. I had been walking for quite a while with my head down because I was looking at all the shells and stuff on the ground as I walked. When I finally looked up and around, I noticed that the section of teh beach that I was on was much less crowded. Looking ahead of me, I noticed a naked guy, probably about 70 years old, comong out of the water. Sweet. The more I looked around I realised I was surrounded by nudity. Then I realised I probably looked like a creeper because I was carrying my camera. I put my camera in my bag and turned around. I didn't want to be a creeper, nor did I want to see naked elderly people.

I'm spending the night in Haarlem. It's pretty nice here. It has more of a small town feel and it's very cute. I ate supper on a dock by a windmill (I had my cheese, this time with some bread though).

I loved Haarlem. Can't wait to hear your next adventure. You will probably be eating haggis or headcheese or something.
