Entry 3 of 29 | show all | print this entry

Inspired by the movie 16 Blocks (those words will never again be uttered), I decided to come clean about a few slight exaggerations I make in regards to my "sole" reason for visiting a place. See disclaimer under list.

Now on to my reasons for visiting the UK:

1) My sole reason: to visit my friends from Japan whom I love dearly. two crazy little men to be exact (one quite tiny, the other of average stature but really most people are short in comparison the Sasquatch that I am. so very sasquatchy.)

2) Check out Oxford University and SOAS, at one of which I hope to earn my Masters in Middle Eastern Studies...because for some reason I think it makes sense for me to study within a country that at one point colonized most of the region I hope to be studying?

3) Understand the origin of the word "fortnight." No conclusions can be drawn at this time.

4) Cheap flights = happy Kims

Disclaimer: the documentation (on an online journal much like this very one...) that my sole stated reason for visiting locations is to spend time with my long lost friends makes it seem like I am brown nosing heavily. And don't get me wrong, I am. But really, this is brown nosing at its finest. I have obviously not, however, advanced to the point of black belt brown nose sensei because it is at this level when one truly learns the art not disclosing the truth. Similar, some may say, to the stages of Scientology, but you know, not as frickin' crazy. And nobody within this art form names the child Suri. I mean, come on. Suri?
