Yesterday, everything went according to plan as Péter had to nip over to Austria for some reason so I had a less than hectic day. I'd actually planned to take a trip to Koszeg by bus, as I'd enjoyed the town so much, but as yesterday was Sunday there seemed to be so few buses running that I gave it a miss.
Today, I ran into Péter and his mate Kondi. Péter's funny but Kondi has a great sense of humour too.
Anyway, they suggested that Kondi drive us to Koszeg for a look around and a few beers. So off we went.
Once in Köszeg I was informed that the pub next to the railway station is known as the observatory by the locals because each morning and each evening, the sight of everyone lifting their beer bottles looks as if they are astronomers with telescopes.
First stop was a beer garden that had absolutely no signage outside. One of Péter's mates who's originally from Koszeg suggested it. The speciality of the place is wine.
Now it was time for me to venture away from the idyllic beer-garden into the bar to try to order a few drinks myself, in Hungarian. This was of course one of the highlights of the day for me and I wasn't surprised when a few of the locals wanted to have a chat. This led to a few more shots while we were waiing for our wines to be poured...
Then on the way back to Szombathely Péter suggested we drop in on some friends in some tiny village. What a wonderful house. The foyer was full of huge plants growing up the walls; it was like a botanical garden. And the books!
I don't know how long we were there but I really enjoyed the atmosphere as the teenagers in the house came over to chat as well... this wasn't an Esperanto thing but it certainly was made possible for me through Esperanto.
