DAY 1-4

WE LOVE THAILAND!
After our exhausting flight we cleared customs - no worries thre they dont even check! and went out to find our hotel transfer. We went straight to the tourist association desk as we were instructed to do when Lou turned arround and saw our names (spelt correctly) on a card!!!we met our transfer and a young guy called glenn ( yues with 2 n's as he informed us later) we caught a bus to the car...the car was once again luscious with leather interior! We were SO relieved, it was such a calming and different experience to when we arriv4ed in Delhi.Deffinately no tears. The highway was wide, not crowded and looked just like home. Modern cars, no cows...NO HORNS!
Once we arrived at our hotel check in was easy (our names were on the list!) and our room is quite pleasant! The hotel has a pool and a mini bar in our room! First things first...sleep...We slept all day and by 1700 we turned on the tv and watched star movies. Aquamarine was on which we were wanting to see in India but had missed out becuase of a faulty tv!we were stoked!
Later we ventured out an dwandered the streets where we found a restaurant and enjoyed...soup.Tamsin went for her traditional tomato, Lou went for spicy seafood soup.We splurged our an dhad a coctail each and topped it off with a pancake, a waffle and ice cream (contrary to what most of you are probably thinking we arent eating that much junk!)haha It was here we saw our first lady boy who was a waitress at the restaurant...a very poorly portrayed lady boy wityh a hideously gay laugh!

Back to the hotel we had a good nights sleep.

Next morning we ventured out and decided to walk in the opposite direction knowing we'd eventually end up at khao san rd. After a big long loop and 2 pairs of fisherman pants each we found it!Turns out its a street over from ours. We later stumbled accross a little walkway 2mins from our hotel that connects striaght to it! Khao san is the main backpackers area with lots of bars, restaurants, hotels, cheap stalls and shops..all in all its greaT!
We returned to our hotel for a swim, the pool is really nice.
That night was halloween, we noticed a lot of pubs setting up decorations so we dcided to go to dinner at khao san rd and to see what happened after that! There were djs set up and people in costume, seemed like one big party! We found a place to eat, unfortuneately it was right near the main dj so it made it hard to haer...seeing tamsin is already a bit hard for hearing it was almost impossible! We enjoyed coctails and beer with our meals when we remembered there was vodka in the room and Lou needed mor emoney. We bough some fanta and had one drink and found that it was disgusting! We ventured out again in the search for jager bombs...we found a thai club advertising jager so we went in...it was packed, playing thai music, with thais. amd noone else of any other colour. We went upstiars in the search of jager but both hards made out it was at the other..We found some promotional pictures of jager and ripped them off the hangings and took them to the bars...still no luck...Tamsin mucking around started head banging on the way down the stairs...she fell down them although mannaged to stay standing..the thais laugh and she laughed..oh dear.
We made our way to khao san rd again where the party had pumped up more where we followed a police car that was trying to shut it down in 15 mins, we pushed it along into the middle of the dance floor nd began dancing away.a group of itallian boys found us where we all grouped together and sang ole ole ole ole and aussie aussie aussie drunkenly. As the dance shut down we were making our way to a nearby pub with the itallians and some english boys when once again we went searching for jager, the english boys said theyd drank it in an irish pub down the road so we went there. As lou went to the toilet she returned to find a table of shot glasses full of jager.we had our shots and lou decided to be creative and make a leaning tower of shot glasses, one fell and smashed ..the boys were worried we might get in trouble tamsin stated stop worrying it doesnt matter and crached 2 more...oops.we tried hiding 2 behind the menu and as tamsin went to the toilet Lou wrote in salt "lady boy" at tamsins seat as wed seen one shortly before!unfortuneately this drew attention and a waitress noticed the broken shot glasses she pronounced wed have to pay for the glasses, luckily tamsin came out of the toilets just then, one of the bys said the waitress is making us pay for the glasses tamsin immediately ran out saying why are still here whilst lou grabbed the rest of the group remaining and Ben as hed been cornered saying hed have to pay and followed suit by running! We ran down the road till we were in the clear and decided to break into our swimming pool at the hotel.Unfortuneately it closes at 20:00, but we thought we might be able to find a way in. We taped the firedoor and tried picking the lock, no such luck. Next we scaled the roof top, once again no such luck, they really want to keep people out!Our hopes were crushed so we said goodbye to our new friends and went upstairs to bed.

Next morning we had ANOTHER sleep in, we think we must still be on India time! The previous night wed been craving cheeseburgers, tamsins craving was still there so we enjoyed a double cheeseburger each!!!so good!craving fixed! We decided to actually do something today so we got a taxi to china town...its so big and yet so small (ie. narrow alleyways!) Its full of shit and junk and plastic yet so ingruiging! To sum it up its just tacky asian stuff! Upon our return to the hotel we both decided on a thai massage! It is relexing however a different experience!you start lying on your bvack and they massage your legs and arms, then lie on your front and have your back done, then with you rhead in the ladies lap as they do your head and face then sitting up as they crack the bones in your back!Lou unfortunately struggled as she is not flexible in the slightest and couldnt perform some of the tasks required of her!

Lou so relaxed had a nap whilst tamsin whod bought an ipod charger finally was able to charge her ipod and sat listening to some much needed music and stared out of the window at the "3 moons" which we thought wed seen the other night before remembering they were just giant balloons!

We went back out to khao san road for dinner which tamsin had her pad thai and lou had some stir fry.so good!oh and strawberry daquris!(yes, incorrect spelling!)We wandered the street again lou bought some watermelon (she says "sooo so so so good!"- must be good!)
Back to the hotel for another nights sleep

that brings us to today! This morning we decided to see the reclining buddha. We navigated the streets to find the river ferry, it only cost 13 baht to go anywhere!thats like 40c!We were convinced wed fall into the water whilst boarding but we didnt and again convinced wed not know where to get off but we did!very impressed! The reclining buddha was right next to the ferry pier. It is a 46m long golden buddha!its huge and really cool to see. After touring the temple grounds we rested from the heat with an iceblock and caught a taxi back to the hotel.
We had more pad thai off the side of the street so yummy!and headed back to the hotel for a swim!we were dissapointed to realise that the sun doesnt reach the pool so our tanning hopes here have been dashed thanks to the height of our hotel blocking the sun!

And now we are here, and your are up to date so far for thailand!tommorrow is the start of our tour of the north. Will keep in touch!

love you all

lou and tamsin
