Milos is a first for the ship and Oceania Line. It does not get many cruise ships and the almost enclosed harbour made for easy tendering ashore. Some passengers a bit miffed about missing Mykonos, having read about it not sure what they were upset about as it seems its main attraction these days there is night life, and somewhat dangerous, and we were leaving before that started up. Maybe they just wanted to see the "beautiful people" who are said to roam its streets.
The township of Adamas in Milos was what we had been hoping to find in a Greek Island. Slow, laid back casual and quite charming. We were the only ship in, and that helped. As we were unexpected the usual "touts" were not around and we could wander and enjoy. Found a beautiful swimming beach about 3 km from the ship along the waterfront. A lovely walk and great to see the locals just enjoying life. Shops had items for local consumption, not acres of "tourist souvenirs" Should point out our ship only has 700 passengers, so the impact is not as great on a town as one of the big liners we have seen around.
