Great day...Mel Cup day but we didnt even hear it run. Made money for the first time in years - I didnt have a bet so I am well in front this year.
Day started with early brekky in Strahan and then on to the boat. Boat was called The Eagle and we spent a whole day on Macquarie harbour and Gordon river (well 9am to 3pm). Went briefly out the heads into the ocean...big swell coming thru and so we turned back. Then past some fish farms and on to the pre-cursor to Port Arthur...a place called Sarah Island. Nasty place but they built some great boats. The kicker of a story is the last boat they built they pinched and sailed to Chile :-) Also had a walk thru true rainforest with 2000+ year old trees - Huon Pines
We then got back in the now very dirty Maz and hit the road
The place Sandy picked for us to stay was sensational - an old village built for the Hydro dam builders. Now privately owned and it is all for tourists except 2 houses for the workers. We had a beautiful 3 bedroom shack - immaculate, polished floorboards, heaters/fires everywhere. The local pub did a great meal....It was first class.
No mobile phone coverage..not sure if that was good or bad??
Sorry have not got photos to upload yet...will do later

Echidna on side of road
. Again a winding road and lots of fun. Took us 2.5 hours to cover 180 Kms. The place Sandy picked for us to stay was sensational - an old village built for the Hydro dam builders. looks like the trip is going well!
I hitchhiked around Tassie 30 years ago and remember the boatride out of Strahan well! Good to see you are both enjoying yourselves ...
