Okay so I skipped a day in hopes that a lot amazing things would transpire during the break. Uhhh, didn't exactly happen like that. I am pretty much in a bad mood today. I wish I had more friends to write back home. Don't get me wrong, family, I love you guys and like hearing from you.

I missed out on the Russian class this afternoon, it was optional. I was going to go to a lecture on Czech film at 2:15 but I kinda missed it and kinda chose not to go. Our classes end every day at 1:00pm. So today after class I went to sign up for the bus trip to some caves and a castle on Saturday, then went to the grocery store and a shop to get a notebook and stopped into the hair salon to try and set an appointment. I didn't have time after that to get back to school by 2:15. My hair is getting so annoying cuz it's so hot here and I don't know when or where I can go to get it cut. I should just buzz it.

I borrowed an adaptor for my laptop so it's charged now (and I uploaded some photos) so technically if I would have brought it with me to the computer lab I could be posting photos right now. Sorry guys. I am a slacker.

Hmmm, what else? I think I am going to stay in and have a quiet night tonight, well I would like to but who knows? There is a bar in the dorms downstairs so it's all too convenient. Some classmates (I think the Italians) are organizing a soccer game at 7 tonight and I am really looking forward to that.

We watched a great Czech movie yesterday, it was called The Devil's Brother-In-Law in English. It was a fairytale full of Czech humor about kings and castles and princesses and devils and magic and stuff, its excellent. I actually saw that last time I was here with Veronika; the Czech TV station was broadcasting fairy tales every Thursday night so I got to see a couple. But this time there were English subtitles and last time Veronika translated. I wish I were fluent in Czech cuz a lot of the humor was lost in translation, but it was still funny.

Thanks for reading, Ben

Some days are just boring stuff
but we still like to hear about boring stuff in other countries. Too bad you missed the Czech Film lecture. It seems the Czechs are pretty respected in the world film industry. I remember seeing a couple Czech films while I was in college and the 'buzz' was that the Czechs were pretty artsy and knew what they were doin'. Have fun with the soccer. (How do you say 'headbutt' in Czech?) And get an appt. before you buzz your hair! Could be trouble for a good looking guy like you to be stuck with a bad haircut. Although the heat does drive us to drastic things. We love ya either way. Hope more of your friends tune in soon to hear about your exciting adventure. Keep working hard on your Czech! love, Val

Extraordinary ordinary life
Sounds like a somewhat humdrum day, but think about where you are! It's awesome, and I do hope you get as much out of it as you can. I heard on the news today that Europe is having recordbreaking temperatures, so no wonder you've been hot, hot, hot! The soccer game sounds like fun, as do the movies. Enjoy! From lovely downtown Panora, Iowa (I think less exciting than that dynamite encounter with the crazy bikers in North Bend, though we did see a bit of the RAGBRAI day before yesterday), Love, Mom

How can you be modre in a beautiful country with a pub in the university? Hope you got to play soccer to lift your spirits back up. I guess every day can't be totally awesome. But stay in and have a quiet night? Do you have studying to do? If not, get out there and kick some ass. I mean have a good time, but that licorice liquer sounds . How about slivovice? Are you keeping up in the language class? I pray that the work's not too hard, the weather cools down, and the fun's outstanding. Love ya, Ben! Monica Hneda
