Even though Newark came up on the roll, I think the location that I arrived at was very appropriate for the area. I've never seen the statue in person despite going to New York City three times already. I figured it was just calling me especially since I need to do some research for that park ;) When I arrived, it was amazing to see how close the skyscrapers appear across the bay. I didn't fathom that happening. I thought those New Jersey towns were just a small peck in relation to New York City, but that was just me being an idiot. Now I know more about the bay and the historic trilogy (Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty and the railroad station). It's interesting to think about the history of these monuments and that these are practically what made New York so great and continue to make it such a legacy. This definitely made my day

. Last night's roll pretty much determined if my trip was going to have a northerly or southerly tint to it. Newark appeared so it appears that I'll be moving toward the great New England states. I suppose that's good because I've never actually been above New York City, but I was kinda hoping for a southern route just because it would make for better weather. Now the true exploration of the country begins. I'll begin to see new cultures and experience a new land. And what better place to start than with the view of the Statue of Liberty.1: Poughkeepsie, NY
