Here in Paris it is cold and raining and I am freezing. I have one pair of long pants with me and saving them to wear tomorrow. I sort of look like an orphan, peddle pusher pants, wool socks with sandals. Did I mention these wool socks Vince gave me. His mother knits them, really and so does Heike's grandmother, for the whole family. I did not know there was such a thing going on still. They are great and he gave me one of his pair for the year. I do believe they are so far my favorite thing I have gotten since I left home. I have been wearing the same 4 shirts and same 4 pants since I arrived on this land and I am looking rough. Going to shop here is Paris when everything opens mid week maybe. Need a pair of jeans for when it is cold like this.
Rode a city bus through town and just acted lost so I could see the whole route the bus took - it works and is cheaper than site seeing bus - which I hate. Then I can see which neighborhoods I want to return too and walk around.
Went to a movie, original version, which sort of means in English, but not completely. It was the movie about Cuba and Castro , here it is called Adieu Cuba ?? Not sure of the name in the States, may be the same??? Adieu means Goodbye here?? Do we have a movie out called "Goodbye or Farewell Cuba" at home??? Anyway good place to go when it has rained all day and you are cold, because unlike the homes a business will adjust the temperature a little. I had walked with my pitiful (lightweight travel) umbrella all day and after a few good wind jerks I believe I will have to invest in a real umbrella if this rain continues.
I have got to get up early in the morning, Johnny is arriving in the morning at Charles de Gaulle airport at 8:15 am and I will need to leave here early to ride a bus, metro, then another bus, to get there. I have been avoiding the metro and using the bus when I can. Pick pocketing is as bad around here as the travel books warn. The guy staying here from Korea was at one of the sites yesterday and a couple asked him to take their picture, then asked him again to take another picture, by the time he was switching cameras back and forth, they had taken his money and credit cards. He had some more money at the flat in his suitcase but had to call home and cancel his card. He is at the last of a 55 day trip around Europe and will head home next week. Not really uncomfortable here out at night, not like Prague, but careful and took a cab home from movie tonight instead of bus.
