Its amazing how we as Americans have so many things that we take for granted. Not only do we take things for granted such as the availability of hot water, heat, etc. but we tend to let things complicate our lives...being here in Tuscany I realized just how peaceful it is to not be surrounded by televisions in every room, the constant zooming of cars as they haphazardly drive up and down the roads...I am so amazed at how much internal peace I feel being here in on the mountainside....

Being here in Italy is a luxury for me. It's an opportunity that I am truly grateful to take part in. Not only is it a wonderful learning experience but also a great personal experience. It's an opportunity to become more aware of self. Being here completely immersed in the italian culture, the land and people is so enlightening. Being able to hear the various creatures in their natural environment, undisturbed by the likes of we humans and all of our gadgets and machines...

Today we had seminars and one focused on taking a look at personal wellness and balance in our lives. We were given a couple different activities... One of the exercises we were to take 15-20 minutes alone and away from everyone else and simply take in our surroundings and truly focus on our five senses and how during this time our thoughts are affected as a result of our senses...

There is so much beauty in nature. The smells are so unique(flowers and trees). My first thought as I was taking in the smells surrounding me was how many companies in the US (i.e. Glade) attempt to imitate the smells of nature but sitting there alone on the hillside I realized that these smells can't be truly duplicated... Often imitated never duplicated. Not only were the smells amazing but just being able to simply listen to the sounds of nature was so relaxing...hearing the different sounds of the birds chirping in there various tunes, the absence of "traffic" noises as the wind rustled through the trees was simply amazing.....
