After 5 nights at The Entrance it was time to move on. Regulars here for the Christmas holidays were beginning to arrive and it felt like they would be happy for us to leave so more of the regulars could move onto our site. But we had enjoyed our stay, even though at times the wind due to the exposed waterfront site was a little disconcerting.

As we made our way back to the M1 to head South to Lane Cove River Tourist Park, which would be our home for the next four nights allowing us to explore Sydney, we had to negotiate many of the ubiquitous  roundabouts that are a feature of traffic management on the central coast. Like everywhere we suppose, the traffic around this area has become more hectic since our last visit and travelling between points of interest 'is no holiday'.

So just after midday we arrived at the Lane Cove River Tourist Park which is contained within the Lane Cove National Park. With its bushland setting and location providing convenient train or bus travel into the city, it is extremely popular and despite its pay in full at time of booking policy which is unpopular with some, the park is apparently almost fully booked. The only downside perhaps is that the park is under the flight path for aircraft using Sydney airport, but we're sure the noise won't be a problem given the airport's curfew.

After doing a grocery shop at the nearby Macquarie Shopping Centre to top up for our stay, we sat outside in the shade of the awning and plentiful trees, and Lucinda took the opportunity to do some bird and plane spotting.

Dinner was chilli chicken tenders with steamed vegetables in a cheese sauce which we ate outside and were entertained by a couple of laughing kookaburras. We retired inside to watch Melbourne United play the Perth Wildcats on NBL.TV.
