Hello Everyone,
We arrived in Vietnam this morning and checked in at our hotel just in time for breakfast. So after a good meal and shower to wash 40 hours of airport/airline grime off of us, we headed off to explore Saigon. And where did we head first? Our favorite place in any city...the market. The Ben Thanh Market is at least one full city block in size and you literally can buy anything, from fresh eels and pig hearts to model wooden sailing ships and camouflage frilly dresses for little girls. Needless to say, we went up and down every aisle and were accosted by all the usual sights, sounds, and especially smells that come free with every visit.

Something little known, unless you visit Saigon, is that there is really no such thing as a cross walk. They have the ritual white painted stripes familiar across the world, but I truly believe, after yesterday, that they are only there so as to concentrate pedestrians in one place so that it is easier for the ambulances to pick up those hit! I exaggerate only a little. You must cross the street as the locals do, one step at a time, and I will admit, I followed on the down traffic side of a little old lady yesterday purely out of self preservation!

All kidding aside, Vietnam has been wonderful thus far and we have enjoyed all the sights of the city. Tomorrow we are off to Siem Reap and Angkor Wat.
