Today we toured the city via foot and metro. This city is endless, perhaps one of the largest geographical cities in the world (Mexico City is its own district area, Paris is a huge city). We rolled out of bed late and had delicious coffee, sauntered up the Av Victor Hugo and grabbed baguette sandwiches to start our day (ok, afternoon) and strolled the Champs Elysees and all the shops. We learned that "soldes" means "sale" and this is a very popular sales time since it is out of tourist season.

We cut our way to the metro and hopped out at the Pl Chatelet and made our way over to the Isle de Paris where the Cathedral Notre Dame is located. For you linguists, it was made very clear in our Lonely Planet guide that "Noter Dame" is a college "Notre Dam" is a cathedral. Point taken. The inside of the cathedral is breath-taking, with many stations and chapels dedicated to all of the saints, the Virgin Mary, and the vickers, bishops, and priests over the years at the cathedral. Unfortunately for Bill the archealogical crypt tour is not open on Mondays, and unfortunately for Teresa the tour of the towers required over 400 steps of stairway ... both up and down. Needless to say neither happened, instead we settled for a glass of champagne in a cafe and enjoyed the terrrace sunshine before walking the grounds of the Louvre.

In the evening Bill took Teresa to Le Souffle (http://lesouffle.fr) where he had ventured during his b-school stay in Paris in 1990. The escargot is still amazing, and the souffle drizzled with half a bottle of gran marnier is still to die for. We ended the night on a metro connection back to Arc de Triumph where our day began and returned to Trocadero and our hotel.

Bringing it back home...
Glad to see the happiness...three questions for you...1)how is the wine? 2)how is the coffee and 3) are the young French women as pretty as they are in my dreams?

Keep having fun!

Charlie
