The objective according to the trip notes was to ‘‘Wind down the pace here and enjoy some time relaxing poolside, or consider a day trip by boat snorkelling impressive nearby reefs. Come evening seek out a local seaside bbq and feast on the daily catch with the locals’’. Well, there was certainly NO snorkelling here!
Let’s just say that after my hour’s walk down the ‘main street’ of mainly cheap souvenir ie T shirt stalls (10,000 Rp is only NZ$1.37 or US$1.00) and I certainly don’t need any more T shirts!!!, then passing the early tourists taking their temple snaps, headed around the coast to the end of the cliff top paved path to where the evening kecak dance is held before breakfast, decided that this was it. I was glad to had ventured down here early before the hordes of tourists that arrived by the bus load throughout the day. Such is the importance of the temple.
The 4 Americans (Valerie, Alex, Tristen & Richard) decided to head off to the north west coast for a bit of snorkelling - we will see them tomorrow night and Marilla, who was leaving a day early, decided to revisit Ubud for the day instead of spending it here in Tanah Lot! Wise choice.
So I spent the day uploading images and taking it easy.
Lunch in the hotel: Grass Juice - blended chinese lettuce, line and pineapple 16,500 Rp, Sate Ayam - chicken with peanut sauce and Mie Goreng - fried egg noodles with chicken and vegetables. This made up for my lack of dinner last night!
Sunset was really a non event but was still good to see what it could have been like in that setting with the temple in the foreground.
Dinner in the hotel: Cap Cay - Chinese steamed mixed vegetables and chicken 24 Rp, Fu Yung Hai = Chinese omelet with green peas, carrot, onion served with sweet & sour sauce, plain rice plus several Lime Juices.
As for the accommodation here. Best not said. :(
