Time to journey onto Mt Bromo - the timeless homeland of the Tenggerese.

Leaving this wonderful place at 2.45 pm, the short relocate towards Mt Bromo was uneventful. I still managed to take a few images of the passing street and vehicle life.

Mount Bromo (2,329 m) is still active and the most well known volcano of the Tengger massif. It is known locally as 'Gunung Bromo'. The name is actually is derived from Javanese pronunciation of Brahma, the Hindu creator god. This region is the homeland of the Tenggerese.

It was getting dark as we drove the hour upwards passing the steeply cultivated hills and small villages to the head of the Tengger Valley.Just after 6 pm it was well and truly dark when we pulled into Yoschi’s Hotel and Restaurant. The souvenir sellers were waiting for us as we piled out of the vans. It was certainly cooler up here. Not cold but cooler.

Yoschi’s Hotel and Restaurant dinner for me was Green Paradise which is a hot mint, honey, tea, ginger and lemon drink; Sayur Rebus or cooked vegetables with a plate of Kentang Goreng Istimewa Jamur Ddengan Bombay Daging Asap Keju or special fried potatoes with mushroom, onions, smoked beef and cheese 30,000 Rp; plus to end it all a Dadar Gulung Dengan Buah - Buahan Dan Saous Chocolate commonly known as a pancake with fruit and chocolate sauce on top 18,000 Rp.

By 9 pm it was time to head early to bed in preparation for an early 3 am start tomorrow. Love (not) the decor of the place. It's different to put it mildly.
