A lazy 9 am departure was possible as we had only 350 km to our next bush setting campsite in the edge of the Kalahari Desert. The landscape is now flat with just low scrubs and tussock. Boring to look at but this is the huge Kalahari Desert that I am talking about!

I am glad that I went on the 90 min late afternon bushman's walk as within a few year's this will be lost ... the handing down of century old customs, which plants and roots to survive off, whch ones to use for medicine, which one has water in it, how to make fire from rubbing 2 sticks. That evening we were entertained to dancing by the villagers. So different to what I had seen anywhere else. With the western influence, I am sure that the next generation will have lost much of what I saw a glimpse of in a few years.

Botswana while rich in diamonds, has a major alcohol problem (so the government are increasing the prices), over 50% of the population has HIV / Aids and they have a life expectancy of just 28 years!!!!
