Though it sounds ridiculous we actually both started to feel our stomachs knotting up and our hands becoming clammy as we drove along Melbourne Road and back into Williamstown (home). We were excited to be back and to be catching up with everyone and yet oddly we felt a little nervous.

Pat and Jeff were kind enough to let us set the van up in their back yard which just happens to be the back of the pub (Morning Star).  It was so nice to see them again and being that we had been in touch so regularly it wasn't long before we felt like we had seen them just yesterday.

Our brief time back at home was spent catching up with friends.  We were so pleased and delighted to see everyone again and spent hours exchanging stories. We have the most amazing friends, at home and around Australia, we are just so very lucky.

We enjoyed a lovely walk around Williamstown, though it wasn’t the same without Miko by our side enthusiastically demanding attention from anyone who crossed her path.  What hadn’t changed was the length of time it took to get from one end of our crescent to the other, chatting to everyone along the way, one of things we have always treasured in our little 'cult de sac’.

We even ventured into the city for lunch with ex work colleagues, it had been a long time since we had been in such a large city and at Friday lunch time it was really buzzing.  Whilst it was nice to meet up and spend time with everyone, it was good to get back to the tranquility of Williamstown.

On Saturday night about twenty of us met at the Star for dinner.  It was a lovely evening, a long table running through the centre of the dining room, brought to life with a broad spectrum of conversation and jovial banter.  Hardly surprising that it ended up being more of an early morning than a late night, lucky we didn’t have far to get home!  What had we been thinking when originally we planned to drive out on Sunday… Monday was a much better option.

Having dropped some things into our storage unit and returned Donna’s barbeque (thank you Donna for going without it for 12 months so we didn’t have to purchase one) we enjoyed a casual Sunday afternoon at the Star with a steady stream of friends dropping by, it really was just like we hadn’t been away.

After a few days it was once again time to hit the road.  Pat and Jeff had been so fabulous to let us stay with them and after going out to breakfast with them, a rare break from the hotel for them, it was time to hitch up and start off on another journey of discovery.

We’d just like to thank everyone for a sensational weekend, we really were both overwhelmed and delighted to see everyone, you all have such a special place in our hearts and we miss you.
