Sunday morning we flew to Perth. We had been looking for rideshares and even found a couple but after crunching the numbers we realized that with the gas, food, and loding required of a 3000km week-long trip it is much more cost effective to fly
Since being in Perth we have stayed in a hostel in Northbridge, a suburb just north of the city centre that seems to have much more going on than the city itself, which seems to be just business and a bit of shopping. Our first night we went out for real authentic chinese food including Peking Duck, mmmm! We also enjoyed some shisha at a hookah bar.
We have seen the normal sights - there aren't actually that many! Hyde Park is really lovely, with tons of cool unique birds, a pond, and a very cool playground! Whenever I see cool playgrounds I wish I was a kid again so I could go play! We did a nice walk through the city including King's Park, a huge park that includes the Botanic Gardens and great views over the city and the river. The waterfront, which is actually the riverfront, is nice although small, and we saw (heard) the Swan Bells, bells that were a gift from England and are from the 14th century.
That's about it so far in Perth, stay tuned!
